Conference Report

February 24, 2016

My assistant, Tiffany, attended a Prevail User Group Conference last week in Orlando Florida.  She has brought back a lot of new ideas that will help us track client contact, securely store electronic information and use our software more efficiently.  I know everyone missed her while she was gone (me most of all!) but I’m excited for the information she has brought back for the office to implement!

Organ Transplants

February 17, 2016

Although I typically focus on Social Security and legal news, I occasionally like to post good medical news.  I recently learned that the number of organ transplants performed in the US exceeded 30,000 last year.  The United Network for Organ Sharing (UNOS) called the milestone “a testament to the generosity of the American public”.  Currently over 120,000 people are currently awaiting lifesaving transplants in the US.

The AARP has a round up for you below.  Of course, I love Bernie Sanders’ ideas to expand Social Security and like Hillary Clinton, I support lifting the cap on income subjected to Social Security taxes.  I personally  would support the idea of having the first $10,000 or $15,000 of income tax-free, because I feel that the 6.2% hits lower income workers the hardest, but I’m not running for office!

Take a look at the candidates’ stands below:

Once again, I am humbled to have been selected as a Florida Super Lawyer for 2016.  This honor is especially great because it comes from my peers.  Lawyers have multiple resources from which to learn about the qualifications and skills of other attorneys.  To be selected among is high praise.
